Peer Assistance
SERN is pleased to announce the Peer to Peer Assitance Program!

Purpose
One of the messages that came through loud and clear at the Forum on Local Government Performance Measurement in Chattanooga was that governments and non-profits want to have the opportunity to learn best practices from each other. The SERN Peer to Peer Assistance program will facilitate a hands-on approach to learning and sharing best practices between organizations.

The program will allow Network members to gain on-site technical assistance from practitioners engaged in best practices in performance measurement.

Members of SERN may apply for grants of up to $500 that can be used to either support the costs of visiting peers engaged in best practices or by inviting those peers to come to visit your organization. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis.

Awards
For the 2008 calendar year, six grants of $500 each are available to members of the network. These awards may be used by the recipient to fund expenses incurred through activities directly related to the peer assistance process. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Allowable expenses include but are not limited to:
  • Travel for the assisting or assisted organization
  • Lodging for the assisting or assisted organization
  • Materials related to the peer assistance activity
  • Contracted training costs incurred by the assisted organization
Application Process
Peer-to-peer technical assistance grants are available to SERN members who articulate a necessity for peer assistance in one or more subject areas related to local governmental accountability. Interested applicants should file an application containing the following:
